Waghya Knows Pythagoras Theorem!
(Property of a Triangle: Sum of any two sides of a triangle is always greater than the third)
Appa, Waghya and I were out on a walk on evening in the village. Waghya, she, is our chip-chap (Chippiparai dog) along with Warrior, he.
Since she is really fast, she always lets us cover a hundred metres or so and spends her time sniffing around with her ever-inquisitive nose. After that, she sprints all the way to us and acts like we haven't met in years.
Sometimes, she also walks ahead, as if she is leading a pack of wolves (comprising me, my dad, and Warrior) and then waits for us to catch up.
This time, we were leading and Waghya was following.
Appa and I walked along the perimeter of a fence, while Waghya lingered on behind us. Somewhat like this:
↧ represents the point we started and the dash above the arrow is where Waghya was sniffing something,
When the two of us almost reached the end of the path, Waghya, who usually sniffs along the exact path we take, came running diagonally, with her canine smile.
I couldn't help yelling, "Waghya knows Pythagoras theorem!" Although it was actually the property of a triangle according to which the sum of the lengths of any two sides of a triangle is always greater than the third. "She's so awesome," I exclaimed.
Where ⇲ is the path Waghya took.
For all that matters, Waghya might have taken the diagonal route just because she already knew where we are heading. Or she might have seen something interesting happening in the South-East direction, the domain of another dog.
But still, I like to think of Waghya as a brainy number-cruncher. So that's what I'm going to do!
