On Nimbus Nine
I was looking for the silver lining
Around the black cloud over my head.
I find raindrops and tears flowing
Down my face, fast and unarrested.
But I try to keep up, sweating
Weathering it, leaving things unsaid.
The sun's blazing with vengeance
Burning me out when I'm doing nothing.
I was completely wrong, I realise
And resign and sit alone waiting
For another disappointment hence.
The cloud over me is having fun, laughing.
When it really started drizzling today
Bringing petrichor, making dust grime
My metaphorical cloud vanished away
Leaving me jumping on cloud nine.
'Cuz I said that it'd rain, yesterday
And in came the cumulonimbus, smilin'!
It stayed long enough for me to forget
Everything for the time being
"Yay, my forecast is correct!"
Was all I could think of thinking.
Nimbus then moved NORTH and I can bet
'Twas to tell me: UP is where you'll be climbing!
I'm learning to forecast the weather as yet another attempt to keep myself occupied. My predictions have been right for two consecutive days!
