Problematic Sum
I wrote this when I was in Grade 11, probably while solving quadratic equations.
I seem to know it
I think I know it
I know I’ve learnt it
I remember I’ve solved it
But I always forget it
It floats leisurely in the
trembling waves of my brain
It lies there, revealed,
smiling, enjoying my pain
It seems to know that I’m
looking for it
It thinks that I can’t find
it
But I know I’ve learnt it
I remember I’ve solved it
I’m sure I’ll get it!
Sensing me coming, it
stealthily crawls away
Cunningly, it hides behind
my sweet musings
Whenever, I reach for it,
it seems to melt away
While I sink into memories
and end up daydreaming
Only to wake up at its
laughter at me being swept away
It knows that I’m looking
for it
It clearly thinks I can’t
find it
But I know I’ve learnt it
I remember I’ve solved it
And I’m damn sure I’ll get it!
Now I'm in the second semester of my college. I have my Engineering Math exam day after tomorrow and this poem doesn't make as much sense as it used to do.
